How to total a timesheet

Hours for a shift = end time minus start time, minus unpaid break. Add every shift in the week. Gross pay = total hours × hourly rate. This page uses decimal hours (7.5 means 7 hours 30 minutes).

Worked example

A shift 9:00 to 17:00 with a 30-minute unpaid lunch is 7.5 hours. Four of those plus one 9:00–15:00 with no break is 37.5 hours. At $24/hour that week is $900 gross.

Overnight work is easier as two lines (evening until midnight, then midnight onward) or as a total you already counted. Paid breaks stay at 0 in the break box.

Common questions

What if I work past midnight?

Split it into two shifts: one until 12:00 and one after, or enter the total hours for that night.

Are breaks paid?

Only if your workplace pays them. Leave break hours at 0 if the break is paid.
