The formula
Annual salary ≈ hourly rate × hours per week × paid weeks. Weekly pay is rate × hours. Monthly pay is annual ÷ 12. This ignores overtime, bonuses, and benefits.
A $25/hour job at 40 hours and 52 weeks is $52,000 a year before tax. If you only work 48 weeks, it is $48,000.
Common questions
Is monthly pay always annual divided by 12?
For a quick estimate, yes. Some employers pay every two weeks (26 cheques) so a month can have two or three pay days.
Should I include overtime?
This page is straight-time only. Add overtime on the overtime calculator, then add it to the annual figure.
